About

Hello all you lovely people!

My name is Vicky, I am a freelance illustrator based in Lincolnshire, and I love to doodle.

Inspired by the greats of Raymond Briggs and his beautiful pencil work, Shirley Hughes’ ability to capture the wonders of real life and childhood, and an ever growing appreciation of film and TV to draw inspiration from; my work centres around the themes of nature, pop culture and the joys of being a kid in a sometimes less than colourful world.

I have drawn since I could pick up a pencil. The film ‘Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron’ was my first drawing obsession; trying to perfect the way a horse looks. And from there my love of drawing both animals and people grew.

Traditionally trained with a particular interest in oil painting and realism, my focus became my illustration degree at the University of Lincoln; a course that I felt would allow me to put my love of drawing into a creative career.

I graduated in 2015 with a first-class degree and since then my drive to put everything into illustration hasn’t stopped. From designing greetings cards for my own business and local businesses in Lincolnshire, to creating custom drawings for clients throughout the world. I have illustrated children’s picture books for a wide variety of ages and have also put together workshops teaching the importance of drawing and being creative. I have had my work stocked in multiple shops both in Lincoln and further afield and I have attended more craft events than I can count!

I love it, and I feel incredibly privileged every day that I have been able to make this my career.
